Electrolysis is the only medically approved form of permanent hair removal, It is a course of treatment that permanently removes hair growth when performed by skilled and experienced practitioner. For over 100 years, electrolysis has been recognised as a safe, reliable method of treating all skin and hair types. Many new treatments for hair reduction or non-permanent hair removal have emerged over the years, for those who seek complete and permanent hair removal on any part of the body, regardless of skin tone or hair colour, there remains only one method that is approved by the British Medical Association – electrolysis.
Electrolysis involves the insertion of a very fine, disposable, sterile probe (the same diameter as the hair) into the hair follicle, which is a natural opening in the skin. A tiny amount of energy is then skillfully discharged into the hair follicle. The only sensation felt by the client is heat passing down the probe to the base of the follicle. The treatment can be adapted to suit each client’s skin, hair and pain threshold.
During a course of treatments there will be a constant, gradual decrease in the growth of the hair, until it has all been permanently removed (a bit like watching a man go bald, e.g. 200 hairs reduce to 150, 125, 100 etc. until there are no hairs left, as follicle destruction has been achieved). The number of treatments required will vary from person to person and will be discussed at the initial consultation.
Electrolysis can be used on any part of the body. No type or volume of body hair is too stubborn for treatment and no body part too embarrassing. Treatment areas include all facial areas, bikini line, abdomen, underarms, fingers, toes and eye brows.
The first sign that electrolysis treatment is working is that the hair growth becomes softer, finer and lighter in colour. You will see and feel the difference throughout the course of treatment, so you do not have to wait until the end of your course to see a difference.
Following treatment clients will be given strict aftercare instructions to adhere to in order to support the electrolysis treatment.
It’s crucially important to get the amount of destruction in the follicle just right in order to prevent any damage to the surrounding skin tissue, while at the same time treating the hair follicle effectively. We do offer a free consultation prior to the start of treatment.
Waxing is one of Waltons speciality services, we use warm cream wax which is we feel the most effective way of hair removal using wax. The area to be waxed is cleansed using a pre-wax cleanser, a layer of warm wax is applied to the area of skin to be waxed and then a wax strip is placed on top of the wax and gently pressed on and then very gently whipped off, leaving the skin, wax and hair free. We then apply an after wax lotion that gently soothes and moisturises the area that has been waxed. The more waxing you have done is known to weaken the hairs leaving them more sparse and less painful to have waxed in the future.
We recommend that waxing should be done when the hair is approximately 4/5 mm long. Ingrown hairs do occasionally appear and if so, our advice is to exfoliate to bring the hair to the surface and remove with tweezers, to try and avoid these occurring try exfoliating the day before your wax appointment. Our eyes are one of the most significant features on our face, they tell us so such about ourselves, so why not enhance them? An eyebrow shape opens up the eyes and tidies all the straggly hairs above the eye socket area. To define them more, an eyebrow tint can be applied, this will slightly deepen the eyebrows giving them a stronger arch and if your eyebrows are ‘too fair to see’ they become a natural frame with a gentle colour.
Eyelashes become longer after lash tinting due to the fair tips being coloured and they appear to be thicker enhancing our eyes all day all night, smudge free eyes even after swimming or a work out. Prior to your first tinting we require a patch test to be done 24 hours before, just pop in any one of the team can do that for you.
